Sudocrem was the clear winner for us. We sometimes alternated it with Vaseline, depending on how the skin looked that day.

One of the best tips I received was using a hair dryer on low/cool setting to completely dry the area before applying any cream. It makes a huge difference because these creams work so much better when the skin is totally dry.

Lemonade with water became my go-to, and eating ginger foods helped a lot too. The simplest thing that worked surprisingly well was just keeping a mint pill in my mouth.

Most of these are at least partially covered by a solid health plan, but they’re also HSA-eligible, which makes them much more affordable.

From my own experience, these were some of the best things we used: a good breast pump, compression stockings, a supportive belly/back brace, prenatal massages, seeing a pelvic floor specialist, baby classes, and upgrading to a private hospital room.

    Each one genuinely helped
